Building A Roller Skating Rink
Population
You will need to have a good idea of how many people are in your market area. Good sources for this info include the local school systems (the bulk of your market will be school aged children), the local Chamber of Commerce (they're in your phone book), or even the census bureau.
Look at where other rinks are located to estimate the area you will be primarily drawing from. Don't expect to draw many customers to your rink if another rink is closer. It's especially hard to get someone to drive past one rink to get you your rink, even if your's is newer and/or nicer.
There is no real answer to the question "how big does my town have to be to support a rink?". We've seen small rinks in small towns survive for quite a long time, especially if the owner is willing to work another job and not expect too much income from the rink. But obviously, the possibilities are better for rinks in larger cities than in real small towns.

We are wholesale only and are not allowed to sell to skaters or to quote prices. For info on purchasing skates please look in your phone book under "skating rink" or click here.
Always skate smart. Use appropriate protective gear. If you're not an experienced skater then learn to skate indoors at a roller skating rink. It's a flat and smooth surface with no traffic to deal with. Take lessons.
