Roller skating has been trying to get into the Olympics for quite a long time. The "insiders" say that the chances of getting into the 2012 Olympics are stronger than any of the past attempts, and it might actually happen this time. As part of the effort, they produced several videos that were presented to the Olympic committee, and they're pretty interesting.

Always skate smart. Use appropriate protective gear. If you're not an experienced skater then learn to skate indoors at a roller skating rink. It's a flat and smooth surface with no traffic to deal with. Take lessons.
