The Roller Derby track is smaller than most skating floors; this means that the corners tend to be tight. When competing in Roller Derby you need a wheel that gets up to speed quickly and can hold you in the turns. Some of these are speed wheels that work for Derby, a few are specifically designed for the Derby market.
Durometer: the durometer of a wheel is a measure of it's hardness. Most wheels are measured on the "A" scale (i.e. 98A or 95A) but occasionally you see one on a different scale. The higher the number, the harder the wheel, as long as they're both on the same scale.

Always skate smart. Use appropriate protective gear. If you're not an experienced skater then learn to skate indoors at a roller skating rink. It's a flat and smooth surface with no traffic to deal with. We strongly encourage you to take lessons (most skating rinks offer them).
